Uisenma Borchu was born in 1984 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and came to the GDR in 1988. She studied French and history in Mainz and documentary film at the Munich University of Television and Film (HFF). She received the Bavarian Film Award for Newcomer Directors, the Fipresci Film Critics Award at the Munich Film Festival and the Grand Prix in the New Talent Competition of the Taipei Film Festival for her diploma film DON’T LOOK AT ME THAT WAY. Her second feature BLACK MILK premiered at the BERLINALE in the PANORAMA section. She wrote and directed the play NACHTS ALS DIE SONNE FÜR MICH SCHIEN at the Münchner Kammerspiele.
